HOW WE EVALUATE
THE INITIAL INTAKE AND EVALUATION PROCESS IS CRUCIAL IN PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME FOR YOU, THE PATIENT.
Many of our patients have already been diagnosed with a named condition; for example, concussion, TBI, a movement disorder, or a chronic pain syndrome. While that named diagnosis is very important to know, it often fails to recognize the underlying impairments creating the presenting symptoms and impacting function.
We look at each and every patient from a fresh, objective perspective, and the focus of the examination is to assess how your nervous system functions and how this level of function impacts you, and you alone.
When we perform an examination, we are thinking functionally, not just anatomically. We look beyond the pathology.
WE WANT TO KNOW:
- What can this brain do?
- How does it perform with each task?
- Are responses to certain stimuli normal? Are they appropriate?
- Are responses symmetrical on both sides of the body?
- What areas/pathways of the brain are working optimally?
- What areas/pathways of the brain are not working optimally?
- Can we use areas of better function to assist those demonstrating deficiencies?
The culmination of our findings are expressly and without exception unique to you, and you alone.
So too, will be your therapy plan. We use the totality of the clinical presentation and findings to render a therapeutic paradigm, and to further monitor progression and efficacy, thus ensuring the specificity and appropriateness regarding every detail of your intervention.
At MCN we want to be sure that our services are the most appropriate option for you.
It’s important to us that we have a chance to listen to your unique situation and talk with you about our approach and how we might be able to help. If we feel as though our services may not be the best option to address your clinical presentation, we may refer you to a different health care provider that we feel may be more appropriate for your case, and we will do our best to facilitate the coordination of your care.
Her knowledge is unparalleled and she combines that with compassion and a genuine drive to see healing in her patients. I could not recommend more highly. We found answers with Dr. McNally where other doctors said there were none.
